Chinese Fans Can’t Kick Their Tasty ‘Addiction’

K-pop duo Tasty has been on a roll since debuting in China with their single "Addiction."

The idol group came in at No. 2 on one of China's top music programs, "Global China," only a month after breaking into the Chinese entertainment industry, according to the Korean entertainment outlet Osen.

Tasty, which consists of twins Daeryong and Soryong, began getting attention from various Chinese media outlets and fans even before their debut following a showcase in Beijing in late August, according to an associate from their management agency Woolim Entertainment.

"Chinese fans are taking note of the duo's impeccable performance skills. Daeryong and Soryong and fluent in Korean, Chinese and English so they're expected to dominate overseas," stated the associate.

Tasty quickly worked their way to the top of major Chinese music charts, jumping from No. 8 to No. 2 within three weeks.

Following the explosive popularity of "Addiction," the brothers have been getting requests to appear on various Chinese music and variety programs. Tasty will be making an appearance on the popular variety program "Nienttai Show" on September 25.

Tasty released the Chinese version of their Korean track "Mamama" and "You Know Me" soon after they dropped "Addiction," which has further expanded their fan base in China, according to Allkpop.

Although Tasty has only recently begun to gain mainstream attention, the twins have been in the entertainment industry since 2007. They started out as backup dancers for one of Korea's top artists, Park Jin-young.

They passed the cutthroat audition process for Park's company JYP Entertainment in 2006 and lived in the U.S. for three years to train with choreographers.

Despite their launch into the K-pop industry with JYP Entertainment, Tasty ultimately decided to leave the agency and sign with Woolim Entertainment.

"We passed the audition easily so we thought everything would be easy too. But later on when other friends (trainees) joined in and debuted before us, we felt disappointed," stated Tasty during an interview with the media outlet Newsen.
