According to TV Guide, the synopsis for the "Scandal" season 4 premiere reads: "In the fourth-season opener, Fitz begins his second term with a plan to make positive changes for the nation. Meanwhile, Mellie has trouble dealing with her son's death; and Olivia's absence leaves a void on her team."

As we previously reported and according to E! News, Rowan Pope got "everything he wanted" in the "Scandal" season 3 finale when Olivia Pope got on a plane with Jake and left DC, meaning he's "back as the B613 boss."

But when asked how he'll deal with his new success, Rowan Pope actor Joe Morton hinted that it won't be long before Olivia returns and throws off his plans!

"I think if Olivia returns, he's going to be kind of concerned about that, wondering why she's back and what for and how that's going to work out. I also think what's going to happen is people are going to find out what I did and sparks are going to fly," Morton said.

Spoiler alert! As Gladiators will remember, Rowan "ruthlessly assassinated the president's son" in "Scandal" season 3 - a secret he will likely try to keep under wraps at all costs.

"Every season we try to tell this show in a different way, and we're doing that again this season," series creator Shonda Rhimes said. "There is an organizing principle that brings us back, in a weird way, to more of where we were at the very beginning of the [series]."

Rhimes hints that Season 4 will see "the emergence of a very different kind of Mellie, who I kind love almost more than I love 'Drunk Mellie.'"

"We do see Andrew this season and there is a trajectory for that [relationship]," she added. "But not right away. Mellie's child died and her world blew up - an affair is the last thing on her mind."

Rhimes also confirms that Fitz will learn the truth about Rowan Pope's role in Jerry Jr.'s death during "the first half of the season."
