Which INFINITE Member Is The Best Acting Idol? [Poll]

K-Pop boy band INFINITE has musically distinguished themselves from their contemporaries through intense synchronized choreography and unique musicality through work with production teams like Sweetune.

But the members are setting themselves apart in other ways too. The seven-member group currently has four members starring in Korean dramas.

INFINITE’s L and Hoya recently returned to Korean television in the musical drama “My Lovely Girl.” “My Lovely Girl” stars Rain and f(x) member Krystal as two wounded souls who connect through a supernatural love of music.

Woohyun and Sungyeol head the cast of the KBS2 Friday drama “Hi! School Love On.”

Hoya made his K-Drama debut with the immensely popular show “Reply 1997.”

INFINITE’s Hoya (Lee Ho Won) won over Korean drama fans with his performance as Kang Joon He in the 2012 drama “Reply 1997.” Hoya starred opposite A Pink’s Jung Eun Ji and Seo In Guk in “Reply 1997,” a tvN drama which was set against the dawn of modern day K-Pop and the popularity of H.O.T.

“Reply 1997” was responsible for launching Hoya, Eun Ji, and Seo In Guk as “it-list” idol actors.

Hoya recently made his television return as Kang Rae Hoon in the SBS musical drama “My Lovely Girl.” Rae Hoon is the leader of the fictitious group Infinite Power, who maintains intense jealousy for his groupmate Shi Woo. While Hoya was likable on “Reply 1997,” his role as Rae Hoon has yet to display redemptive qualities.

L recently appeared in a supporting role in “Cunning Single Lady” and is the second male lead in ‘My Lovely Girl.”

L (Kim Myungsoo) made his acting debut in the 2011 Japanese drama “Jiu.” He then went on to appear as Lee Hyunsoo, a haphazard musician who dreams of becoming a K-Pop idol in the 2012 musical drama “Shut Up! Flower Boy Band.”

In 2013, L appeared in the drama “Master’s Sun” as the young version of Seo Ji Sub’s Joo Joong Won.

L currently stars in the idol drama “My Lovely Girl” as Shi Woo, the member of Infinite Power who is incredibly popular with fans but despised by his group members. Shi Woo aspires to have a normal relationship but enjoys the perks that are delivered through fame.

As the second male lead, L exudes believable chemistry with f(x) member Krystal, who portrays ANA Entertainment trainee Yoon Se Na. The snarky bickering between Shi Woo and Se Na helps to tie up some of the loose ends of “My Lovely Girl,” while providing an interesting couple for audiences.

Beyond his push and pull relationship with Se Na, Shi Woo is demonstrative of the sometimes frustrating dynamic that can be found within a boy band. Although, Shi Woo is the most popular member of the group, he is in constant conflict with Hoya’s Kang Rae Hoon.
Shi Woo aids Se Na with track vocals after she is challenged to create a new title track for Infinite Power.

The talents of the idol cast shine during moments which examine the creative process behind music.

“My Lovely Girl” will air until November 6 on Wednesdays and Thursdays on SBS.

Woohyun and Sungyeol in “Hi! School Love On.

INFINITE members Sungyeol (Lee Sungyeol) and Woohyun (Nam Woohyun) lead the cast of “Hi! School Love On.” “Hi! School Love On” is a teen drama which focuses on two unlikely friends whose lives are changed by Lee Seul Bi, an angel who becomes human.

Woohyun portrays Shin Woohyun, an eighteen year old high school student who struggles to maintain normalcy with only his grandmother as a family member. Even though Woohyun is handsome, he is an outsider whose life is centered on adult problems rather than more trivial high school issues.

Lee Seul Bi, portrayed by young actress Kim Sae Ron, introduces Woohyun to a more carefree life. She is also instrumental in helping to establish the friendship between Woohyun and Hwang Sungyeol.

INFINITE’s Sungyeol is the somber, overachiever Hwang Sungyeol. While Sungyeol appears to have the perfect family on the surface, his life is conflicted.

Sungyeol and Woohyun develop a tight bond that is further established by their individual love for Seul Bi.

The dynamic between the three main actors helps to set the bittersweet tone which makes “Hi! School Love On” a delightful drama.

“Hi! School Love On” will air until November 28 on Fridays at 8:55 KST on KBS2.

Episodes of “Hi! School Love On” can be viewed in English on KBS World, as well as Viki and DramaFever.
