On July 30, Core Contents Media representative stated, "Due to an inevitable circumstances Hwayoung has terminated her long-term contract with our office, but, her sister Hyoyoung will continue to stay with us."

He continued, "Our head Kim Kwang Soo, the rest of the staff, and the singers stayed up until 7am to come up with the decision. The final decision is that Hwayoung will leave our agency."

Hwayoung signed with Core Contents Media in July of 2010. In May of the same year, her sister, Hyoyoung, signed with the agency. She was seen playing the Korean harp on the SBS show "Star King" by the company staffs. Head Kim Kwang Soo scouted the twin sisters that day. They were in their second year of high school at the time. Both are the same age as T-ARA Jiyeon.

Regarding Hwayoung's joining of the group, head Kim Kwang Soo had said, "Hyoyoung stood out on TV for her bright and cute personality. After discussing matters with her, she shared that she thought her sister Hwayoung would fit better with T-ARA. After a long discussion, we decided to have Hwayoung join T-ARA."
