J-Pop Super Group Cheeky Parade Coming To New York For CBGB Festival; Cheeky Parade Brings Its Biggest Fans From Japan to NYC to Hit Comic Con [VIDEO]

J-pop super group Cheeky Parade have topped the charts in Japan and are on their way to America. Cheeky Parade will bring their boundless energy to New York City from October 7 to October 13.

The group announced that it is scheduled to appear at Comic-Con on October 10. Cheeky Parade will also give a full concert on the main stage at The CBGB Festival on October 12th. The J-pop group will be joined by such big names as  Jane's Addiction, Billy Idol, Macy Gray and Devo.

Cheeky Parade was formed in 2012. The band debuted their first single "BUNBUN NINE9'" on January 9th 2013. It shot to number 4 on the Oricon weekly chart. Their second single "C.P.U !?," was released the same year and hit number 5 on the Japanese charts. Their third single "Mugendai Shoujo" topped the Japanese charts.

The J-pop chart-topping act features 9 young girls that sing and dance. The name Cheeky Parade evokes "both the girls' saucy attitude and the parade-like excitement they generate."

How Cheeky? The band is bringing 60 of their biggest fans with them to New York City to take part in the band's shenanigans.

J-Pop is quickly gaining global popularity but it has been a staple of Japanese culture for years.

The Cheeky Parade appearances and performance in October are part of the final leg of the band's International tour. Cheeky Parade's live performance at the CBGB Music Festival  is set to take place Sunday, October 12th at Noon at the CBGB Times Square Main Stage.

Cheeky Parade is signed to iDOL Street, a Japanese record label and music project specializing in developing future idols which was launched by the Avex Group on October 2, 2010. Avex Group is is one of the top three record labels in Japan and is currently the biggest selling label ahead of Sony Music Entertainment Japan, Universal Music Japan, King Records and J Storm.

The first artist on the iDOL Street label was the idol group Super Girls, formed in June 2010. As of May 2014, three girl groups have debuted on the label: Super Girls, Cheeky Parade, and GEM.
