Michael Jackson’s ‘Thriller’ Music Video Gets 3D Re-Release, ‘An American Werewolf In London’ Director John Landis Teases Possible Previously Unreleased Footage?

Every year around the month of October convenience stores and pharmacies put out their Halloween decorations, and horror movie trailers and posters add to the saturation of Halloween themes. And then, suddenly you hear, "Thriller" by Michael Jackson and you know it's definitely time for Halloween.

After more than a month of wondering if the project would ever get out of negotiations, it has finally been confirmed that Michael Jackson's iconic "Thriller" music video/short film is going to be re-released in 3D. Director of the original "Thriller" video as well as horror classic "An American Werewolf in London" John Landis made the announcement but purposely kept some information about what fans can expect underwraps. Will MJ fans everywhere get to see some previously unreleased footage?

"It is going to reappear in a highly polished and three-dimensional way that is very exciting on the big screen," said Landis to the New York Daily News.

While details about the 3D re-release of Michael Jackson's "Thriller" are still being decided on, the confirmation that Michael Jackson's estate and director John Landis are finally moving forward comes at a good time as zombies are very much apart of pop culture these days.

Bloody Disgusting reports that, "The 14-minute short film, which revolutionized music videos and has since become one of, if not the most famous ever released, will be getting the 3-D treatment, and will arrive on Blu-ray and potentially in limited theaters come 2015."

However, when asked for more information about what to expect John Landis joked that if he told the press he'd have to kill them. This seems to hint that there's something bigger in store for the re-release that perhaps due to negotiations still ongoing with the Michael Jackson estate. Never before seen footage of the musical genius would certainly make both a theatrical and Blu-ray release worth it.

Since the "Thriller" re-release is not scheduled for another year, fans will have to settle for the current music video, which is available for nostalgia induced squeals below.
