Michelle Rodriguez's ex Cara Delevingne joined with other top supermodels to headline Chanel's feminist mock protest during Paris Fashion Week. But the stunt in Karl Lagerfeld's show received criticisms from some sectors.

In the report from UK's Mirror, Michelle Rodriguez's ex Cara Delevingne joined Gisele Bündchen, Joan Smalls, Georgia May Jagger, Kendall Jenner and Karl Lagerfeld as they shouted slogans and carried placards in a mock supermarket set.

The publication wondered what the message was, especially since Karl Lagerfeld has not been known to promote women empowerment and feminism. The report noted that he was even quoted several times demeaning overweight women.

"He famously said the only people worried about size-zero were 'fat mommies with bags of crisps,'" Mirror said, adding that Karl Lagerfeld also slammed Pippa Middleton for having not quite having a pretty face as Kate Middleton.

The Independent UK didn't mince words when it called Chanel's feminist PFW as well as the participation of the rest of the models like Michelle Rodriguez's ex Cara Delevingne and Gisele Bundchen as "embarrassing than empowering."

It said that the Karl Lagerfeld show reeked of hypocricy when the fashion designer once called Adele fat, (according to Mirror, Karl Lagerfeld said of Adele: "The thing at the moment is Adele. She is a little too fat, but she has a beautiful face and a divine voice."), or that the models who joined Chanel's feminist PFW all have the same body types.

"While it's easy to blame the fashion industry at large for this unrepresentative ideal, a designer of Lagerfeld's influence has the power to hire girls of all body shapes, and could cause real change if he did so," it said.

The Independent said that the Karl Lagerfeld show's "stagey rendition" of women empowerment was a mere "gimmick" given his history. Unfortunately, it added, too many people seem to be buying it.
