Ben Affleck To Take On The Role Of Bruce Wayne/Batman In Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice

As many of you may know, Ben Affleck will be portraying the role of Bruce Wayne/Batman in Zack Snyder's directorial venture Man of Steel follow up, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Affleck is currently making headlines for starring in a mystery thriller film directed by David Fincher Gone Girl.

Affleck's casting as Batman initially got explosive reactions from fans but eventually as images of the actor in costume and Batman's new ride came up, total consensus now seems to back the actor in the role. "He's got the chin," pointed out Joss Whedon, he has displayed immense respect for the mythology he currently occupies. As far as playing the role of Bruce Wayne is concerned, Affleck has proved himself exceptionally good at playing powerful men in films like State of Play and Changing Lanes.

Moreover, this is not the first time Affleck will play a superhero, he has appeared in films like Daredevil (2003). While speaking with NPR recently, he spoke about Gone Girl. He told NPR's Arun Rath, "Performance-wise it wasn't something that I've had to do, I don't think ever, as an actor," he further added, "I haven't done many movies where there was a sort of thriller component like this."

In regards to the likability of the Gone Girl character, Nick Dunne which Affleck portrayed and who probably may or may not have murdered his wife, Affleck said, "The whole idea of likability was sort of thrown out of the window. And I thought that was really exciting and liberating as an actor because you didn't know where this guy was gonna go."

Though the subject in the above quote was specifically Nick Dunne, some of it also applied to Bruce Wayne. The comic books, TV and movies have portrayed numerous versions of the billionaire playboy-turned-vigilante.

Film director, writer and producer Mark Steven Johnson (Ghost Rider) came up with an apt cinematic approach to the Man Without Fears and Affleck looked attached to the role, movie's plot, dialogues and pacing were all ambiguous to say the least.

In regards to his first outing as a live-action comic book character, Affleck said, "Indeed I have regrets about 'Daredevil.' I have regrets about all the movies that I don't think were executed properly. ... Look, if I thought we were remaking 'Daredevil,' I'd be out there picketing myself ... and that goes for other movies as well that I haven't been happy with. You know, I'm hard on myself and I have exacting standards and I want to do excellent work and I don't always succeed, but I think you have to start out with that drive."
