Former ‘Shy Boy’ Nichkhun Of 2PM Is The New Boxing Manager For Chinese Program ‘Brave Heart’

Boy group 2PM member Nichkhun is taking on a new role in the entertainment industry.

Although Nichkhun used to be more of an introvert before his debut, the idol member is now the manager for a boxing team on the Chinese reality television program "Brave Heart," according to the Korean publication Osen Entertainment.

"I was shocked and surprised how am I standing where I am when the opportunity can happen to anybody. In the past I never thought that I could perform anything in front of people. I was a shy boy and choked up when speaking in front of the classroom," the singer told Thai magazine Dichan during an interview.

He added, "I never expected to be able to stand in public singing and dancing in front of thousands of people. I was not confident."

Now that he's broken out of his shell, Nichkhun is juggling promotions for 2PM's recently released album "Go Crazy" along with schedules for his solo career. In "Brave Heart," Nichkhun is managing five boxers who were picked from a total of 20,000 athletes from all around the world alongside Chinese actor Kang U, Taiwanese actor Godfrey Gao and female action star Zhang Lan Xin, who also appear on the reality television show as managers.

The first episode of "Brave Heart" aired on October 5, in which Nichkhun fans were able to see the K-pop star meet with the boxers for the first time and help them prepare for their starting match. The singer was also reportedly spotted in the boxing ring, practicing with the athletes.

Nichkhun took his role as manager very seriously, even presenting his team with boxing shoes before their first competition.

News of Nichkhun's new television role comes as fellow 2PM members officially express their approval for their bandmate's romantic relationship.

"2PM is okay with Nichkhun seeing Tiffany [from Girls' Generation]. Our fans, of course, take it seriously, but dating is an extension of their musical careers for singers. It doesn't make sense for us to write and sing love songs without loving someone," explained 2PM member Wooyoung during an interview with a local media outlet, according to the publication Asia One.

The 25-year-old continued, "When we first found out that Nichkhun was dating Tiffany, nobody told him off. We thought that now he could enjoy music more. Being honest is the answer if we want to keep doing music for a long time."
