Stephen Collins did not commit suicide, despite reports that surfaced Tuesday. Rumors have been circulating like crazy since a horrifying tape was released earlier in the day, in which the actor most known for his role on 7^th Heaven appears to confess to child molestation. We do know, however, that Collins continues to face major fallout as a result of the revelation – he has been fired from upcoming roles on Scandal and Ted 2, as police investigate the allegations.

On Tuesday evening, actress Donna D’Errico tweeted, “That guy from 7^th Heaven lives right around the corner from me & just shot himself a few minutes ago.” A media frenzy ensued, as members of the press scrambled to determine if claim was accurate. The LAPD then stepped in to announce that the disgraced actor is “alive and well.” CNN reports he wasn’t even home when a reporter outside his house heard a loud noise and, thinking it was a gunshot, called the police. After looking into it, police determined no shots had been fired. Once the situation was cleared up, D’Errico followed up, “I just tweeted what I had been told by my neighbor who were on the scene. I apologize for tweeting what I heard before confirming it.”

Meanwhile, ABC announced on Wednesday that Collins will not be reprising his role on it’s popular Shonda Rhimes produced series. The actor previously appeared as news anchor Reed Wallace during the second season, and had apparently already done some filming for the current season 4. Just last month he tweeted, “Happy to say I did another episode of #Scandal. Had a gr8 time. Wish I could say more but @ShondaRhimes would have to kill me.”

Gossip Cop reports that Collins was fired from Seth MacFarlan’s upcoming Ted 2 on Tuesday. Neither the director, nor Universal Studios has commented as of yet. The site also reports that Collins resigned from his position on the board of the Screen Actors Guild.
