While "Sinister Six" already has a 2016 release date and "The Amazing Spider Man 3" is pushed to 2018, the 'Venom' movie seems to have fallen by the wayside. But that's not the only major change that is being rumored in the Sony camp. We might see the end of Andrew Garfield!

Amid the rumors that Spider Man may be up for a crossover with the Marvel Studios and the Avengers, more claims reportedly from 'insiders' have been unleashed. From Badass Digest:

"- Sony is going to soft reboot Spider-Man with The Sinister Six, having a new actor playing a Spidey who works with the villains The Dirty Dozen style to take down a larger threat. 

- Sony is going to put Spider-Man on the shelf for four or five years and see if they can develop any of the side characters into their own franchises. 

I've also heard that Venom is functionally dead again."

These are bold claims, but BD has been released some bold rumors before and some have been accurate. To their credit, site owner and lead writer Devin Faraci did mention that he is not sure if all three stories-or any of them for that matter-are true.

One thing can be derived from these rumors-Sony does not seem to have a clue on what to do with the franchise. All they know is that they don't want it to return to Marvel. Hence, it is imperative for them to make a movie within two years and the only thing they have assured is that it will be the aforementioned "Sinister Six."

There are still no final details on which villains they will use. They have denied that the Easter eggs in TASM 2 are 100% accurate since they have yet to decide on the Final line-up.

Therefore, the rumors should be taken with a grain of salt but Faraci did warn that Sony could actually explore the possibilities. We'll continue to track down every bit of news from the Sony camp that would shed light or possibly close the door on these rumors.
