Penélope Cruz is the Sexiest Woman Alive. At least, according to Esquire magazine.

The 40-year-old actress was given the 2014 title on Monday, Oct. 13. She follows in the footsteps of gorgeous ladies like Angelina Jolie, Halle Berry, Kate Beckinsale, Mila Kunis, and 2013 "Sexiest Woman Alive" Scarlett Johansson.

Cruz sat down for an interview with the magazine's Chris Jones who, in describing the actress, said she "has no physical flaws...Her face contains no secrets, at least not about her. But her face tells you and the room plenty about you. If you want to feel like the world's most judged man, sit down at a table in a restaurant with the Sexiest Woman Alive."

It's no surprise that Cruz, who will cover the magazine's November issue, won the title.

After directing her Academy Award-winning performance in "Vicky Cristina Barcelona," Woody Allen once described the Spanish actress as a true star. 

"She has everything," Allen told Mirror. "She's very sexy, is very, very beautiful and she's also a great actress who can get a laugh if you need a laugh or be tempestuous if that's what you need. There are no limits."

Cruz is now a mother of two, whom she shares with Oscar-winning husband Javier Bardem.

In the interview with Esquire, the actress recalls making a lot of mistakes in her early years.

"I've played a lot of tricks on myself. I've made it hard for me sometimes, especially in my teens and 20s. I had an attraction to drama. Most of us have that, especially if you are an artist-you feel like you are tempted to explore the darkness," Cruz explained.

"I could not be less interested now," she added. "For me, the most attractive, charming, cool, fun, interesting thing-how could I call it? A plan."

Of motherhood, Cruz told Mirror that she doesn't mind the lack of sleep children bring.

"It fills you so much it doesn't matter that you're always exhausted. It gives you so much happiness. You want to enjoy every second," she said. 

As for acting, Cruz will next star in a Spanish film entitled "Ma ma."
