2NE1 Trending On Facebook Following News Of CL's US Debut

Facebook is abuzz with the news that 2NE1 leader CL will drop a solo single in the States.

On October 16, it was revealed by Korean media outlet Star News that K-Pop's "Baddest Female" CL will be officially stepping into the US music industry.

"t's true that CL is releasing a new solo track in the States next Spring," a rep from YG Entertainment confirmed with Ten Asia on October 16.

CL (whose real name is Chae-rin Lee) will reportedly be teaming up with American talent manager Scooter Braun to promote her debut single, due out sometime this coming Spring.

Shortly after news broke, 2NE1, one of K-Pop's most popular girl groups, began trending on Facebook - making it to the top of the social network's news feed in the early hours on Thursday.

"Congratulations to CL!" read a post from a Filipino fan group, YG Family Philippines. "YG Family Philippines Fan Cafe will forever support you! We love you!"

Despite all of the encouraging messages flooding social media on the matter, some 2NE1 fans remain hesitant about the news.  "She won't last. Asian artists rarely last in America," responded Stephanie Gonzalez to an allkpop post.  Another fan, Maggie Perdomo, shared her concerns as well. "This will break 2NE1," she wrote.

However, Facebook user Lupe De Jesus rallied Blackjacks (2NE1 fans) in support of the group's leader. "So excited for her! I know she's gonna do a fabulous job, she's a very talented lady! Don't see it as a negative thing, guys, let's support her," he wrote in the comments section of a Koreaboo post about the news - a sentiment shared by an overwhelming number of other fans.

2NE1 is the second K-Pop artist to trend on Facebook this week.  On Tuesday, Super Junior member Lee Sungmin was a hot topic on the social network following the announcement of his upcoming wedding to actress Kim Saeun.
