4Minute Members HyunA And Gayoon To Halt Activites Following Pangyo Festival Tragedy

After 16 fans reportedly died during 4Minute's performance at the Pangyo Techno Valley Festival on Friday, band members HyunA and Gayoon say they have decided to halt their activities for the time being due to the tragic accident.

On Sunday, the singers revealed they had canceled their scheduled events after hearing reports that more than two dozen fans died or were seriously injured when they fell down a ventilation shaft during 4Minute's performance at the Pangyo Techno Valley Festival on on Friday.

The fans, most of whom have been identified as young students, had reportedly climbed on top of the ventilation window to catch a better view of the stage when it collapsed and they fell an estimated ten meters to an underground parking structure below.

Both HyunA (Kim Hyun Ah) and Gayoon (Heo Ga Yoon) decided not to attend Seoul Fashion Week events in order to pay their respects to the victims of the incident. Gayoon was scheduled to appear at the Lucky Chouette 2015 S/S Collection event on October 19 at the Grand Hyatt Seoul Hotel and HyunA was supposed to make an appearance for Steve J & Yoni P's October 20 fashion show.

CUBE Entertainment, 4Minute's record label, issued a statement shortly after the October 17 incident indicating that the group members were unaware of the accident while performing for the festival.

"There is no way to measure the amount of grief in our hearts," the statement read.

"The members and staff didn't know what had happened during their performance and only learned of the accident on their way back to Seoul. We hope no more people are hurt because of this incident."
