Epik High Tops iTunes Music Charts Across Asia On The Day Of ‘Shoe Box’ Release

Epik High made a comeback with their eighth studio album "Shoe Box" on October 21.

The new album, which consists of 12 tracks, has topped iTunes music charts across Asia on the day of its release.

The trio was seen ranking number one on the iTunes charts in Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei, Taiwan and Vietnam, according to the Korean publication Naver. Epik High was also reportedly seen taking the number two slot on the iTunes chart in the Philippines and the number three spot on the music chart in Thailand.

Epik High's title track for the album "Happen Ending" reportedly topped music charts in Korea soon after the album was released at midnight.

"The songs on this album are really good. It's not surprising that they ranked No. 1 on iTunes charts outside of Korea. I hope Epik High gets even bigger in the future," commented Korean social media user hwje***.

YouTube user MaJoGuMiHo added, "This is GOLD! I can't wait!!!! Finally a new collaboration with Younah and obviously, the other collaborations in this album are amazing as well (Jay Park, Taeyang, Kim Jong Wan, Yankie, Gaeko, Beenzino, Verbal Junt, Mino, B.I. and Bobby, Burj Khlifa and Joe Won Sun). Amazing!"

The success of "Shoe Box" across Asia can be credited to the hip-hop group's return to their original style of music.

"Glad to see that yg hasn't changed their style at all like people were worried it would. I don't particularly mind, but I much rather preferred the indie style of hip hop Epik High makes over the khiphop from the latest album," wrote social media user Pooja Tirunagari.

Aside from music charts in Asia, Epik High ranked number 43 on the U.S. iTunes chart and came in at number seven on the hip-hop and R&B section of the music chart. The "Umbrella" hitmakers were also seen ranking in the top 10 on the iTunes chart in Finland.

Despite Epik High's ongoing success, their road to getting to the top was as unique as their music has been.

"We're not the model K-pop musician. We didn't have a company, we didn't have a manager. We just got together to make music, the way we did it is very different and rare," Tablo told Fuse News host Liz Walaszczyk.
