Rosie O'Donnell 'The View' Troubles? Volatile Host Reportedly Has Biggest Meltdown Since Elisabeth Hasselbeck Feud Over Flash Sales, Proposed New Host

It looks like Rosie O’Donnell is having issue with producers of The View, once again. The comedian and host is said to have flipped out upon learning that the show will be incorporating a flash sales segment into their daily telecasts. O’Donnell is reportedly also upset that producers are considering bringing a fifth, younger co-host onto the panel. O’Donnell, who had a short-lived gig as co-host on the show years before her current run, made headlines at the time for her bitter feud with fellow panelist Elisabeth Hasselbeck, culminating in her quitting in 2007. Could history be about to repeat itself?

O’Donnell first stated her current beef on air, when Whoopi Goldberg announce that the show would be continuing their previously aired “Must-Have Monday Flash Sale” segment the following week. O’Donnell voiced her objection, saying, “I didn’t know we were doing that – that makes us like the Home Shopping Club, what is that? I didn’t enjoy those, maybe it’s just me.” Goldberg responded jovially, “That is something that makes it easier for us to change our set,” referring to their recent redesign.

MailOnline reports that O’Donell threw a fit in a meeting with producers afterward. “Why didn’t someone tell me about this segment? Who in the hell approved this concept?” a source says she shouted, “I hated it on the previous version of the show. I won’t stand for this crap.”

When the executive producer tried to explain that the concept was popular with younger viewers, O’Donnell reportedly got even more furious, insisting, “Don’t give me that bullsh*t. Stop trying to change this show to get younger viewers. This is not what I signed up for.”

The network is reportedly already in the process of hunting for a new co-host under the age of 35, which O’Donnell is said to feel equally strongly about. The source explains, “Rosie O has made it clear that she’s not happy about the network looking for a fifth co-host. She hates the idea that they are trying to be competitive with the younger audience and thinks they should cater to the people who are currently watching the show.”

O’Donnell’s previous departure from The View occurred after her regular on-air bickering with Hasselbeck culminated in a now infamous shout-fest that lasted 10 minutes, and was aired using split-screen shots of the two. The host asked to be let out of her contract, and the network agreed. It is unclear as of yet if O’Donnell, who has been credited with helping boost the show’s ratings during both of her runs as co-host, will wind up leaving once again.
