New YG Girl Group Causes Concern Amongst 2NE1 Fans

As the first girl group to debut under YG Entertainment since 2NE1, some comparisons are worrying fans of the "I Am the Best" ladies.

Recently, YG Entertainment confirmed the record label's next girl group would debut either in November or before the end of the year. And while this is cause for celebration, some 2NE1 fans feel the new group could overshadow and interfere with 2NE1's activities.

"I am personally not looking forward to YG's new girl group," tweeted YGPeasant on October 16. "I don't have enough promotions from 2NE1 yet."

"YG is releasing a new girl group to replace 2NE1 just like WINNER is to replace Big Bang," predicted Brittany Lajoyce. "It's only natural. Nothing lasts forever."

2NE1 fans could be especially nervous for the new YG girl group due to the recent disbandment rumors surrounding CL, Minzy, Bom and Dara immediately following the announcement of CL's solo debut in America.

After the announcement of CL's solo venture, fans noticed that Minzy changed her Instagram handle from "MINZY21MZ" to "_minzy_mz." This caused her Instagram account to be flooded with fan messages begging her not to leave the group.

Minzy has since restored her Twitter handle and Instagram caption to include the mention of 2NE1, with YG Entertainment reportedly saying that the timing was purely coincidental.

"It is the artist himself/herself who controls his/her own SNS activities," said YG Entertainment according to Koreaboo. "We want to tell you that we are very careful in telling you anything. We want to tell you that the timing of the announcement of CL's American debut and the timing of Minzy changing her Instagram ID coincided. There is no special meaning to what happened."

Meanwhile, YG's new girl group is reportedly preparing for their debut single and album, with G-Dragon confirmed as one of the producers.
