Girls' Generation Greatest Hits Collection 'The Best' Tops Japanese Chart Oricon 4 Months After Being Released: Album Shoots To Number 2

Girl group Girls' Generation's album, THE BEST, that was released this past July, has been making its way back up the charts again.

On October 29, Oricon revealed that Girls' Generation's best album, The Best, had sold 16,310 copies and had gone back up the charts to number 2.

Previously, this album had ranked number 1 for 10 days after its release in July. It was also ranked number 1 on the Oricon weekly chart for 2 weeks as well.

On October 15, they released their 'The Best' repackage album, making it go back up on the charts again.

On the other hand, member Jessica has recently left the group, making Girls' Generation now an 8 member group.

In August, Jessica released her own fashion line called 'Blanc' and hoped to work creatively and bring new styles to the world. She commented that she had fulfilled one of her dreams of creating this company. She later changed the name of her brand to 'Blanc & Eclare'.

Recently, she had posted a message on her Weibo account stating that she would no longer be a part of Girls' Generation. It was later revealed that with so much work with her new fashion line, it was hard to match up with the group's performing schedules.

Jessica however doesn't have any plans to leave the agency and will continue as a solo artist.

All other members of the group renewed their contract for 3 years with SM Entertainment, after their previous 7 year contract ended.

Girls' Generation originally debuted in 2007 under SM Entertainment as a 9 member group.

They have also recently completed their 'Girls' Generation~Love & Peace~Japan 3rd Tour' that had started in April. They have had 3 concert tours in Japan since 2011.
