According to the official synopsis of "Part 2," Episode 2 of Season 1 and the second part of the two-part miniseries, "'Death Comes to Pemberley' concludes: Elizabeth investigates the murder while a suspect in the case goes on trial," according to TV Guide.

AZPM adds, "Darcy buckles under the burden of his honor, his defense of Wickham, and the security of his ancestral home, retreating into his former severity and shutting out Elizabeth's comfort and convictions. Wickham, with his prison cell view of the gallows, holds close a secret whose disclosure may finally seal his fate. It's now up to Elizabeth to root out the darkest truth at Pemberley."

Should we look forward to the "Masterpiece Mystery Presents: Death Comes To Pemberley" miniseries event starring Matthew Rhys & Anna Maxwell Martin? Warning: spoilers ahead!

The LA Times chooses "Death Comes To Pemberley" as one of its top Sunday night picks, explaining "Do not miss the second part of this adaptation of a P.D. James sequel to "Pride and Prejudice." A tense and smart murder mystery gives the cast plenty to do. And what a cast it is: Anna Maxwell Martin ("Bleak House") as Elizabeth Darcy nee Bennett, Andrew Rhys-Davies ("The Americans") as Mr. Darcy, Jenna Coleman ("Doctor Who") as the flighty Lydia and Matthew Goode ("The Good Wife") as that infamous ne'er-do-well Wickham. "Death Comes to Pemberley" is a joy from start to finish, theorizing about the past, present and future of the famous characters, while keeping a wary eye on the realities of their times. Indeed, my only complaint with the two-part series is that once you've watched the second part, it's over."

According to Zap2it, "After the murder in the woods of Wickham's friend, Captain Martin Denny, Wickham is of course the number one suspect. Meanwhile, the much shiftier Colonel Fitzwilliam, cousin to Darcy and would-be suitor of cousin Georgiana, remains out of people's lines of suspicious vision. There is also clearly something brewing between Wickham and Fitzwilliam, and that is what the rest of the mini-series has to reveal. Obviously Wickham has never exactly been a "good" man, but it is the case of him being wrongfully convicted that makes those who want him out of Pemberley search for the truth. "There's only thing people like more than a good dance -- it's a good scandal." Now that is the spirit of Elizabeth. See? It's still there, bubbling beneath the surface. Plus, she's definitely not wrong. If the authorities will resign themselves to their belief that Wickham is the murderer, then she and Darcy will have to solve the case themselves. The fact that Wickham admits to Darcy that he's done many terrible things, but he would never have done this -- just moments after extorting Darcy, like he did when Darcy told him to marry Lydia -- says it all. He didn't do this, so there's a killer on the loose in Pemberley. Hopefully that reveal is just as strong as the rest of part one. Also, there might be a ghost."
