Lee Hi Revealed As First Member Of The New YG Entertainment Sub-Unit

YG Entertainment revealed solo vocalist Lee Hi as the first part of their upcoming sub-unit, which is scheduled to release a song at midnight on November 11.

Lee Hi has received positive attention for her vocals on Epik High’s “Happen Ending” from their hit album”SHOEBOX.” She was one half of YG Entertainment’s 2013 sub-unit which also featured Park Bom. The duo released the somber holiday song “All I Want For Christmas Is You.”

Prior to participating in the sub-unit with Bom, Lee Hi released the hit single “Rose.” Lee Hi was the first-runner up for “KPop Star” season one.

Speculation surrounding the sub-unit has increased, following a photo featuring 2NE1’s CL and illionaire record’s Dok2. Dok2 is featured on the illionaire compilation album “11:11” while CL has received attention for her recent collaborative appearance with Diplo for the 2014 Style Icon Awards.

Prior to revealing Lee Hi as a member of the sub-unit, YG Entertainment released a teaser which features one other female artist and a male artist as part to their Who Is Next? promotional campaign.

These photo teasers contradicted previous theories that the latest sub-unit from YG Entertainment would feature Big Bang’s Taeyang and G-Dragon, who were spotted filming a new music video in Los Angeles on October 31.

The recent success of Epik High’s “BORN HATER” collaboration could be a motivating factor for YG Entertainment to venture back into hip-hop, as opposed to their 2013 releases which heavily reflected EDM.
