More Than 13 Million Fans Worldwide Have Cast Online Votes For MAMA 2014

With twenty-six days left until MAMA (Mnet Asian Music Awards), YG Entertainment’s Winner has taken a .3% lead over EXO in the Unionpay Artist of the Year category. Winner is also holding down the lead with 38.5% of votes for Best New Artist, with JYP Entertainment’s rookies GOT7 following closing behind with 38% of the vote.

Both Winner and GOT7 have developed into cornerstones for their respective agencies. Winner follows in the footsteps of male group Big Bang, while GOT7 has 2PM as their seniors. EXO is one of the most successful male groups that was launched within recent years on SM Entertainment.

According to CJ E&M, MAMA 2014 has received the largest amount of online votes since the option was started. Fans of K-Pop from over two hundred and ten countries throughout Asia, South America, North America, Africa, Australia, and Europe have contributed their votes with more than thirteen million cast by November 8.

The inclusion of English, Japanese, Cantonese, and Spanish language support for voting in MAMA 2014 has enabled greater interaction from international voters.

MAMA was launched in 1999 under the name Mnet Korean Music Festival, an award show which developed into an integral part of the Korean music industry. The award show was renamed to Mnet Asian Music Awards in 2009. In 2010, the ceremony expanding past Korea to be held in Macau. MAMA then traveled to Singapore in 2012, followed by Hong Kong.

MAMA 2014 will be held at the Asia-World Expo Center in Hong Kong on December 3.

Fans can cast their vote for MAMA 2014 through midnight (KST) December 2.

Voting for MAMA 2014 can now be conducted through a mobile app that is available for Apple and Android platforms.
