Things might not be over for "The Vampire Diaries" star Paul Wesley and Candice Accola's characters. While executive producers Julie Plec and Caroline Dries previously hinted that Stefan and Caroline's deep friendship got ruined, the two artists behind "Steroline" did not completely agree.

In a recent intervew with TV Guide, Accola explained why Stefan and Caroline could rebuild their friendship in "The Vampire Diaries" season 6.

"I think Caroline and Stefan can redeem their friendship because that's what happens in life. Sometimes you can't and friendships are just lost, but when there's grief being experienced, that's a good place to start in rebuilding their friendship because it brings reality to the situation," said the 27-year-old.

Plec also said that with Damon's return, things could likewise change for Stefan and Caroline.

"Caroline hoped that if Damon ever came back, she would get Stefan back too. She's still very hurt, and he has amends to make, so we'll see in the coming episodes whether they can find a way to repair their friendship," she told E! Online.

Apart from talking about Caroline and Stefan, Accola likewise thinks that Caroline might encounter a tragedy soon: "Sometimes, when you feel like you're the strongest, that's when you fall. So it will be interesting to see what happens."

"The Vampire Diaries" season 6 episode 8 entitled "Fade into You" will air on November 20, Thursday, at 8 p.m. on the CW Network.
