'Normal Barbie' Created By Artist Nickolay Lamm: New Lammily Doll Promotes Realistic Beauty Standards And Comes With Stickers Detailing Acne, Stretch Marks, Moles, And Cellulite [PHOTO]

Graphic designer turned toymaker Nickolay Lamm has created the Lammily doll, or the "Normal Barbie" doll, in order to portray what Barbie would actually look like if she had the measurements of an average 19-year-old woman's body. According to ET Online, Lamm wanted to perpetuate the message that average is beautiful as well as promote realistic beauty standards and a healthy lifestyle.

Lamm stated, "I created 'Normal Barbie' because I wanted to show that average is beautiful... I see 'average' as inclusive of all of us, not a standard which excludes. I want to show that reality is beautiful ... and there should be a line of dolls, which reflects this fact. The foundation of Lammily is built on being true to yourself in a world that pressures you to conform to standards."

"Normal Barbie" started out as an art project in July 2013. Lamm said, "I wanted to show that reality is cool... And a lot of toys make kids go into fantasy, but why don't they show real life is cool? It's not perfect, but it's really all we have. And that's awesome," conveying his drive to create toys that celebrate imperfection.

According to TIME, Lamm decided to take things further by creating a $5.99 sticker-extension pack, which allows the dolls to have acne, scarring, bruises, cellulite, freckles, moles, and the ability to blush. Concerning the bruises and scarring, Lamm exclaimed, "Some people were like 'Oh my God,' as if I'm promoting domestic violence or something... Look, we all get boo boos and scratches. Life isn't perfect, we all sometimes fall down but we get back up."

He went on to say, "I want Lammily's accessories to be reflective of real life in miniature form. I envision her reading books that inform and playing instruments that educate...I see her constructing her own home, cultivating her own garden while learning about the wonders of plants and vegetables and eating these nourishing and healthy foods," conveying that he wants his line of dolls to differ from diva and princess-like dolls.

Lammily doll is now available for purchase for $25 on the Lammily website, which can be accessed here.
