Friday marks another episode of the popular Shonen anime "Your Lie in April." Episode 7, entitled "The Shadows Whisper" was simulcast for fans in North America through Crunchyroll, Hulu, and Aniplex USA. Synopsis:

This week's episode opens with Watari making a gallant effort in his soccer match but losing at the last minute. He puts on a tough face but ultimately breaks down in the privacy of the bathroom. Later, Kosei prepares for the Maihou Competition and can't resist the desire to compare himself to the other people around him who perform with confidence. Kosei eventually falls out during gym class from exhaustion and not eating.

Kosei gets some encouragement from Kaori in the form of a Charlie Brown quote, and Kosei has some more introspection about his abilities and the competition ahead of him. On the day of the competition however, Kosei runs into some contestants from his past. Emi Igawa and Takeshi Aiza are revealed to have always been just short of beating Kosei in competition since they were younger.

The Maihou competition begins and it seems that everyone is on pins and needles (except for Watari who is already asleep only after one performance). Kosei and Takeshi both struggle with the fear of losing, but then Kosei remembers the encouragement from Kaori and stands strong. Meanwhile, Takeshi takes the stage to perform as the returning champion of the competition. The episode ends on the cliffhanger of Takeshi ready to play his piece.
