Former EXO Member Luhan Voted The Most Valuable Male Star In China

Luhan has been named one of the most popular celebrities in China.

Former EXO member Luhan was voted as the Most Valuable Male Star at the 2014 Baidu Moments Conference, held in Beijing on November 20. The 24-year-old singer attended the event, marking his second public appearance since he filed a lawsuit against SM Entertainment in October 2014.

Baidu is China’s largest portal site and the awards are given out based on Internet searches, mentions, votes, and general popularity.

The award is very prestigious, and shows how popular Luhan is in China. In comparison, the Most Valuable Female Star Award went to actress Li Bingbing, who has appeared in multiple Chinese and Hollywood films.

Luhan was a member of SM Entertainment’s popular group EXO, and a member of the Mandarin speaking subgroup EXO-M. He filed a lawsuit against SM Entertainment in October, hoping to terminate his contract.

The singer is appearing in the upcoming movie Once Again, 20's, a Chinese remake of the popular Korean film, Miss Granny, and previously appeared at a public event to promote it. The Baidu Awards is the second time that Luhan has appeared at an event in China, despite the ongoing legal battle.

Luhan’s immense popularity earned the idol a Guinness World Record for the most comments on a single Weibo post. The video post on Weibo, another Chinese portal site, was about Manchester United, and had over 13 million comments at the time of the award.

Luhan is the second Chinese member to leave EXO in 2014, following the departure of Chinese-Canadian Kris, who has also started an acting career in China ever since leaving South Korea.

Once Again, 20's will be released on January 15. Luhan plays the main character's grandson, and is part of a band.
