"Gangnam Style" Psy Conquers the U.S.!

Unlike the usual slim figured, pretty faced image of the K-Pop industry, Psy is a 35 year old chubby man with crazy dance moves.

Psy has succeeded in going overseas to the U.S. compared to the other industry-manufactured groups that have not quite made it overseas.

With his "Gangnam Style" music video that was posted on YouTube in July, he has reached over 172 million views since then.

This sudden stardom landed him in L.A. signing a contract with Justin Bieber's agency.

Earlier this week, he made a guest appearance on "The Ellen Show" and taught Britney Spears his 'horse-riding' dance moves.

This sudden success had his home country of Korea shocked and proud. Analysts in Korea were quickly trying to find out what had made him so successful.

Gangnam is a wealthy district in Seoul, filled with luxury stores and high-end restaurants.

Humor in general is not seen in K-Pop music. However, Psy takes satirical humor and uses them in his music, making him stand out from the rest of the girl and boy groups.

A blogger commented that Psy does not seem to be controlled by his management like most K-pop idol groups is and that is what sets him apart.

Psy's almost 'normal' appearance makes him someone a bit more comfortable and familiar. His funny dance moves give him a friendly vibe as well.

Psy stated, "My motto is to be funny and not stupid."

He continued, "I want to be someone who is known and appreciated for his hard work as a singer rather than a guy who got lucky and got this far without doing anything."

Psy has shown that one can succeed by just being human. Other management companies are probably going to have to rework their plans for their own groups now.
