Psy Proudly Stands at No.1 on Billboard Social 50 'Record Breaking Results'

Singer Psy, who is causing up a storm in the music industry in the United States, placed first place on the Billboard Social 50 Chart with record breaking results for a K-Pop artist.

Today, the official homepage of Billboard shows Psy's "Gangnam Style" as No.1 on the Social 50 chart. Representatives from Billboard suggested that Psy's appearance/performance at the MTV Video Music Awards brought him all the added media attention.

Psy has already made it into Billboard's main Hot 100 Chart as the 64th place. Prior to Psy, the Wonder Girls' "Nobody" was the highest ranking Korean song when it rose to 76th place back in 2009. At the time, the Wonder Girls was in the midst of their promotion in the United States and their album was recreated into an English version unlike Psy's "Gangnam Style", which is completely in Korean.

It is the first time a Korean artist received this type of attention globally. Psy's "Gangnam Style" is ranked number 1 on the iTunes chart of 18 different countries in the world not to mention the music video's view count on YouTube, which has exceeded far beyond 175 million.

Meanwhile, Psy appeared on the Today Show yesterday morning to perform "Gangnam Style" in front of his New York fans.
