Cate Blanchett Is Proud Of Emma Watson's UN Speech On Gender Equality: Australian Actress And Feminist Calls Speech 'Fantastic,' Says She's 'So F***ing Proud' [PHOTO]

In an interview with Porter magazine, Cate Blachett made her advocacy for social change clear by professing how proud she is of Emma Watson's recent UN speech on gender equality. Watson's incredible UN speech helped to launch the "HeForShe" campaign, which asks men to join the fight for gender equality.

Blanchett emphasized how amazing she thought the speech was, stating, ""I was so f**king proud of Emma Watson's speech at the UN. It was brilliant, such an incredible use of her airspace, and really passionate. It was fantastic."

The Australian actress has always made her support for feminism a public matter - this past May at the movie premiere of "Blue Jasmine," she spoke out against the double standard women in Hollywood gain when they become mothers. She pointed out, "It's certainly a question that's never asked of men. The question is only ever directed towards of women. 'How do you balance? How do you have it all?'

When anyone plays a mother on film, there is a whole raft of judgment in that a mother is a particular archetype or that every mother is the same. That's complete rubbish. We did discuss a lot about that particular issue [in "Blue Jasmine"] because of course there is a judgment on how women parent."

She has also called out subtle sexism on the red carpet. During an E! interview at the SAG awards, a cameraman attempted to capture her gown with a shot scanning up and down her body. At the time, she crouched down and asked him, "Do you do that to the guys?"

More recently, she told Porter magazine that she thinks it is important for celebrities to use their star power to help bring change into the world. According to Yahoo, Blanchett stated, "There are a lot of things happening in an international sphere, and there are enough women with enough clout to make those shifts happen... Enough is enough. And I hope the Emma Watson's of this world are going to say, 'F**k it.'"
