Dok2 Joins YG Entertainment Rappers Bobby & Masta Wu For Hip-Hop Project Number 2

YG Entertainment's newest Hip-Hop project lineup takes the company in a new direction.

Since YG Entertainment announced a couple weeks ago plans for a new hip-hop project featuring five artists, fans were scratching their heads trying to figure out who would make up the two project groups.

The first was revealed to be Big Bang members G-Dragon and Taeyang who released their track "Good Boy" last week on November 21 (KST) and immediately soared to the top of the real-time music charts.

The second project group, a trio, is set to release their track on December 2. On November 26, YG Entertainment unveiled rapper Bobby as the first artist. Bobby is one of the company's upcoming stars. He is set to officially debut with YG's new boy group iKON in January and was named the winner of the hip-hop reality show Show Me The Money 3.

On November 27, veteran rapper Masta Wu was named the second member of the collaboration. Masta Wu signed with YG Entertainment back in 2003 after first hitting the underground hip-hop scene in 2000 as Ginnwon.

However, breaking away from what many fans expected of a YG Family hip-hop project, the final member rounding out the trio is not signed under the label at all. Illionaire Records co-founder Dok2 was announced as the third rapper to join Project #2.

The 24-year-old officially kicked off his career at age 13 when he signed with Cho PD's label, Future Flow Entertainment, and began writing and producing for some of Korea's biggest hip-hop acts including Drunken Tiger, Dynamic Duo, and Epik High.

Epik High, before they joined YG Entertainment themselves in 2012 (Tablo as a soloist in 2011), signed Dok2 to their independent label Map The Soul, Inc. in 2009. Two years later, Dok2 partnered up with The Quiett and the two began Illionaire Records, where the rapper does most of his work these days.

While not an official YG Entertainment act, Dok2 has long-standing ties with many of the artists, not just Epik High. In 2012, he teamed up with G-Dragon for the track "Light It Up" along with Tablo.

Most recently, it was announced that Dok2 and would be releasing a new song Girl's Day member Sojin called "Finale." The R&B track was written by Masta Wu and produced by his former YMGA partner under YG Entertainment, Digital Masta. "Finale" is due out on December 1.

YG's second Hip-Hop project group is set to release their special single on December 2 at midnight KST. Stay tuned for more details!
