‘Captain America: Civil War’ Plot Rumors: No Spider Man, No Problem! Iron Man Becomes The Bad Guy As Steve Rogers Becomes Poster Boy For Liberty Itself!

One of the biggest assumptions when "Captain America: Civil War" was announced is the eventual involvement of Spider Man. Sorry to break the bad news but Peter Parker will not be in the movie and probably the Marvel Cinematic Universe as a whole (at least until Phase 3).

An article from humor site Cracked shows a serious analysis on why Spider Man will not be needed-and why it's actually a good thing:

"Spider-Man was pivotal to the comic sucking. A crux of the superheroes-must-register argument was that their secret identities would be absolutely protected. Iron Man advances this agenda by getting Spider-Man to publicly reveal his secret identity, which you might notice is the exact opposite. You and everyone who's ever wanted to kill Spider-Man."

This explanation actually insinuates that Tony Stark somehow exploited and deceived Peter Parker and he is clearly painted as the 'bad guy' in this picture-and somehow we should have seen that coming based on the "Avengers: Age of Ultron" trailers.

The Cinematic "Civil War" will portray the end of the arc started by "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" with the issues of government control paranoia and security vs. liberty-with Stark and Rogers being the poster boys for both polar opposites. With HYDRA being totally eliminated (Age of Ultron may settle that), the new 'threat' will be someone from within their ranks (which is what Civil War means).

Cracked builds the argument: "The movie can focus on the real story. Captain America: The Winter Soldier showed that the series can handle serious issues surprisingly well, combining an action movie with the morality of hacking as a response to corruption and the revelation that holy s**t, Captain America is Marvel's Edward Snowden. Which was a hell of a statement from a movie about exploding flying aircraft carriers. And they were prepared to permanently change the movie universe by eliminating SHIELD. We look forward to seeing what they do next."

It's about time to let go of Civil War's comic connections and the Spider Man pipe dream. However, the death of Steve Rogers is not entirely out of the picture-Crossbones is still in the movie and he's not in good spirits.
