Monday marks another new episode of "Yowamushi Pedal" season two "Grande Road." Episode 9, "The Fighting Dog of Kure" continues the final day of Inter-High and this time Hiroshima Kureminami Tech is the team to beat. Ibitani suggests that Hakone should have a competition with them over the course of the next 20 meters, in which the winner can continue on without being chased for first place. "Yowamushi Pedal" season two is simulcast for fans outside of Japan via Crunchyroll, but those without subscriptions can find links to watch the episode free online below.

Synopsis:

This episode picks up with Arakita's group catching up with Machimiya's team finally. Ibitani, who is pedaling directly behind Machimiya, suggests that they turn the next 20 meters into a mini competition. Whoever loses the next 20 meters must fall back and allow the winning group to take first place without worrying about chasing each other. Arakita doesn't truly agree and instead races forward.

Unfortunately though, Machimiya pedals so hard that he becomes a "fighting dog" of sorts. Onoda mentions how he pedals so hard that the handlebars hit his chest. Machimiya reveals that he made a deal to work with Midosuji during the first race in the final race. Machimiya then headbutts Arakita, but Arakita holds on. Machimiya flashes back to a previous Inter-high race in which he was first given the ace number. He recalls that both of his water bottles were cracked. He asks Hakone Academy for a spare water bottle but he's refused. From that day Machimiya swore revenge. He even headbutts his own teammate who tries to sprint. Machimiya bursts ahead, but Arakita doesn't give up.

Instead, Arakita notices how he used to be like Machimiya. He then however states, "It's not enough to win."
