MAMA 2014:EXO Wins Best Male Group, SISTAR Upsets Girls' Generation & 2NE1 For Best Female Group

The 2014 Mnet Asian Music Awards provided excitement for viewers in the form of performances and surprise upsets.

The Best New Artist award was presented to YG Entertainment’s WINNER by actors Ahn Jae Hyun and Park Min Woo. WINNER beat out JYP Entertainment's GOT7 for the award. The group thanked their fans known as Inner Circle and stated that they loved them.

Best Dance Performance Solo winner was former Wonder Girls’ member Sunmi for her vampire themed performance of “Full Moon.”

EXO were the recipients of the coveted Best Male group award, beating out Super Junior.

One of the biggest upsets was the Best Female group win by SISTAR over Girls' Generation and 2NE1. Prior to the awards on December 2, Girls' Generation led the fan vote for Best Female Group.

Soyou and Junggigo were the recipients of the Best Collaboration award while rocker Jung Joon Young received the Style In Music award.

Sunmi was the winner of Best Dance Performance Solo for "Full Moon."

The 2014 Mnet Asian Music Awards started off with a bang thanks to the dancers of “Dancing 9.” The “Dancing 9” performance paved the way for a killer and a collaborative hip-hop stage from iKON’s Bobby, Dok2, and the Quiett which paid homage to “Show Me The Money 3” with a fantastic stage of the hit “YGGR.” Their performance was then followed by Masta Wu's delivery of the new rap hit "Come Here" featuring Bobby and Dok2.

Girl’s Day and solo vocalist Ailee performed a collaborative stage titled “Last Fantasy.” Girl’s Day gorgeously delivered their hit “Something.” The steamy stage then segued to Ailee and her comeback hit “Don’t Touch Me.” Girl’s Day then returned to perform a hip-hop stage of “Problem.”

Super Junior-M’s Henry introduced his upcoming musical drama then announced Chae Lim and Gao Ziqi. They presented the Best Collaboration award to Soyou and Jungiggo for their hit “SOME.”

Taiwanese actor Mike He presented the Style In Music award to Korean rocker Jung Joon Young.

WINNER then performed a stage called Behind the Screen which kicked off with their hit “Empty.” The audience sang along with the group during the performance, demonstrating their impact on K-Pop in 2014.

Actress Yoo In Na performed “Happen Ending” with Epik High. Epik High then launched into their hit “Born Hater.” They were joined by iKON’s B.I, WINNER’s Mino, and Bobby.

“Running Man” stars Lee Kwang Soo and Song Ji Hyo then took the stage to introduce the winners of Best Female Group. The crowd wildly chanted Lee Kwang Soo’s name. The stars of "Running Man" then presented the Best Female Group and Best Male group winners.
