"Haeundae Lovers" saw a happy ending.

On Tuesday, "Haeundae Lovers" ended with its 16th episode. Go So Ra and Lee Tae Sung met a happy ending and was even able to save Haeundae Hotel. So Ra's biological mother showed up and gave her the 2% of the company that she owned and So Ra's uncles ultimately prevailed. The people who were vying for Haeundae Hotel were ultimately pushed back and Choi Jun Hyuk (Jung Suk Won) and Yoon Se Na (Nam Gyuri) began a new relationship, which left the ending suggesting a happy ending for them as well.

Though it had its ups and downs, there are definitely things that the drama is leaving behind.

1. Jo Yeo Jeong and Kim Kang Woo

Jo Yeo Jeong and Kim Kang Woo are actors that are not easy to see on the TV screen. The two of them had shown acting with depth in at least one other drama and chose "Haeundae Lovers" as their next project. In "The Concubine," Jo Yeo Jeong showed off very controlled acting and even daring amounts of exposure, so even when she chose this new project, there was talk of possible nudity. This is one of the reasons why Jo Yeo Jeong faced criticisms about her nudity and other exposures near the beginning of the series.

However, the only thing that she leaves behind is not nudity and exposure. She chose the new project in hopes of her future, and in order to get rid of a typical image that she may be pushed into. She wanted to focus on the image that she would make in the future, not the one she had already made. Through this project, she wanted to show her brighter and stronger side to her than the sexy characters she had played before.

Kim Kang Woo had, until now, mostly portrayed characters who were cold and reticent. However, in this new project, he didn't hesitate in ruining his composed image as he acted in scenes that were incredibly embarrassing and therefore shined as a result. When he hung on to Jo Yeo Jeong telling her that he had never seen her this way before and when he fell in the ocean and couldn't swim, he had already been well on his way to leaving his previous image and creating a new one.

He is now an actor that knows romance. Unlike the coldblooded characters he previously played, the new role involved him delivering lines that would give anyone goosebumps and though he is a married man, his romantic acting is at its peak. People anticipate that he will perhaps be able to show more of this side in future projects.

2. One of the most fulfilling gangster dramas.

Throughout the drama, much of the storyline involved Korean gansters. The company Uncle Fishery and its 4 characters represented the epitome of simple and ignorant men, who took care of the comedic relief. Even the people who were trying to acquire Haeundae Hotel were very convincing as the gangster characters and they were able to deviate from the stereotypical image and put a bit of their own spin to it.

Despite the appearance of gangsters, the drama was not heavy and whenever they appeared, it was in a much more comedic context than ever before. Rather than be afraid and cringe in the very stale mood that gangsters often try to create, viewers were able to anticipate what laughs they will create next. Lim Ha Ryong, who played Go Joong Sik, played a gangster who was mentally retarded and who often tried to go to kindergarten with the kids and playing games with them.

3. On-Location in Busan

"Haeundae Lovers" filmed completely on locations in Busan. Even despite the blistering heat of Haeundae, the actors came up to Seoul perhaps once a week and had been living in Busan for the majority of their filming. This particular choice was probably beneficial for the drama. Though it suffered due to many controversies and negative press, the actors were able to concentrate on the filming and the project rather than the outside world.

Requesting T-ARA Soyeon to be fired and criticisms about accents were all things that put the project in jeopardy but the cast and crew only focused on filming on the location. One insider said, "We knew that there was a lot of negative talk going on outside. However, the set was incredibly bright and the actors were working very hard." Many of them reached out to the fans via their social media in order to keep them updated on what was happening in Busan and on location.

"Haeundae Lovers" finished amidst both positive and negative reviews and it ended as fall just began to become a hit in Korea. Though the project didn't become a huge issue, the drama ended happily and gave what little fans it had the satisfaction of a good and fulfilling ending.
