It has already been a few days since the 2014 Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA) aired, but fans and critics are still chattering about the recent events and trends that occurred during the red carpet and ceremony.

Among them is actress Kang Sora who has recently been gaining a lot of media attention for her red carpet outfit choice. The dress was a classic navy lace complete with floral stitching. You would think that the attention was coming in from how stunning Kang Sora pulled it off but it’s actually the price?

It was revealed that Kang Sora’s outfit choice cost only 39,000 Won (about $35 USD) from the popular designer store, H&M. Many fans complimented her choice both in style and price while others looked deeper.

“You can see that the lace is actually very rough and of a very low quality,” said one negative comment while another internet user posted, “A cheap dress for a cheap ceremony good choice.”

Though there were negative and less than subtle comments, they were heavily outweighed by all the positive feedback Kang Sora received for her dress choice.

Among the positive remarks was one from 2PM’s Taecyeon, who took to his official Twitter account saying, “Kang Sora is cool."

“It's true the 'H&M' dress Kang So Ra wore to the '2014 MAMA' was 39,000 Won (~$35)," explained Kang Sora’s agency to Korea media outlet TVDaily when asked about the fashion choice. "The stylist team usually works under the idea that rather than brand or price, whatever Kang So Ra looks best in is most important. In this case, this dress suited her best."

"Kang So Ra has a very easygoing personality as well, so we suspect she trusted her stylist and didn't worry about the brand or price.”

It appears that stylist did their job correctly considering how amazing this dress suited Kang Sora's glamorous style.
