Manny Pacquiao, Floyd Mayweather Jr Next Fight: Money Wants A Bigger Chunk Of The Revenue If A Fight With Pacman Happens

Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr.'s next fight against each other seems likely. "Money" is reportedly ready to fight "Pacman" but with the condition that he gets a bigger chunk of the revenue.

In a report by Sports Illustrated, Mayweather's camp was asking for the lion's share of the fight purse if the dream bout is between the two rivals is going to happen. Reportedly, Floyd Mayweather, Jr. would require to get close to two-thirds of the revenue if he were to agree to face the eight-division champion.

Bob Arum, "Pacman's" promoter, disputed the number and refused to talk about the specifics about the Manny Pacquiao vs. Floyd Mayweather Jr split but said that he has been negotiating with Les Moonves, CEO of CBS, the parent company of Showtime.

Showtime is currently in an exclusive six-fight deal with "Money."

Arum said that the division of the purse was based on his own conversation, and was not accurate. Mayweather has two fights remaining in his contract with Showtime.

Although Pacquiao won convincingly against Chris Algieri in November, his pay-per-view numbers has been distant compared to Mayweather's.

Arum said about Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr.'s next fight, "It's good for a fight that takes place in Macau. If it takes place out of the U.S., that's an automatic 40-50 percent reduction. There is no ESPN around the clock, not all the media is involved. In the U.S., that fight does 700-800,000 buys. This goes back to ancient times. The worst performing fight in the Ali-Frazier trilogy was the Thrilla in Manila because it took place outside the country. Even the Ali-Foreman fight didn't perform that well in closed circuit in the U.S. People say, 'Well why are you doing it? It's because of the tremendous amount that we make in China."

Boxing News 24 reported that Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr should accept a 70-30 split. First, Pacquiao will have the opportunity to be back on the big stage, fighting a famous opponent. Next, he is estimated to earn over $71 million compared his average of $20 million per fight.

According to the report, if Pacquiao wins the bout, he can negotiate for a bigger percentage should a re-match be in place.

Finally, the reports claimed that gunning for the actual fight shows how bad Manny Pacquiao really wants to fight Floyd Mayweather, Jr, instead of just trying to use the undefeated American as a tool to stay popular.
