SM Entertainment Reportedly Considers Legal Action Against Philippine Government For Unauthorized Use Of f(x) Song

Nothing says health advisory like a K-Pop song. However, the use of the 2013 f(x) song “Rum Pum Pum Pum” may be landing the Philippines Department of Health in trouble.

On Tuesday, multiple Korean news outlets including Mydaily and the English language site Soompi published reports of possible legal action from SM Entertainment in response to alleged unauthorized use of “Rum Pum Pum Pum” in a Filipino public service announcement.

According to the allegations from SM Entertainment, the song “Rum Pum Pum Pum” was used by the Philippines Department of Health in a PSA addressing teen pregnancy.

SM Entertainment has issued multiple responses to address the issue. According to Soompi, a representative from SM spoke to the Korean media outlet CBS NoCut News. “We have not allowed the music of 'Rum Pum Pum Pum' to be used in any way,” the representative said.

“Rum Pum Pum Pum” is from the 2013 f(x) album "Pink Tape." The group made a comeback in 2014 with “Red Light,” but promotional activities were halted due to harsh rumors surrounding Sulli.
