Ken Weatherwax Death: Actor Who Portrayed Pugsley From 'The Addams Family' Dead At 59; Suffered Heart Attack In His Southern California Home [PHOTO]

This past weekend, Ken Weatherwax, best known for playing Pugsley on the 1960s show "The Addams Family," died at the age of 59. According to the New York Daily News, he suffered a heart attack at his Box Canyon, California home, and his body was found on Sunday by his half-brother Joseph D. Vieira.

People Magazine reports that Weatherwax first got his start in show business with toothpaste commercials. His family had already been in the television industry for quite some time - his aunt was the 1930s Warner Bros. dancing star Ruby Keeler ("42nd Street") and his uncle was Lassie's trainer, Rudd Weatherwax.

However, his biggest claim to fame was his role as Pugsley, the son of Morticia and Gomez Addams on "The Addams Family." The show itself was based on the "New Yorker" cartoons by Charles Addams, and ran on ABC for two seasons beginning in 1964. It starred Carolyn Jones and John Astin as the morbidly comedic couple Morticia and Gomez, and gained popularity with its familiar, finger-snapping theme song.

In past interviews, Weatherwax recalled his time on the show fondly, but complained that the role of Pugsley typecast him, and in school he was teased about his character's name. However, he went on with his life, serving in the Army and working for Universal Studios as a grip and set builder. Weatherwax retired a few years ago for medical reasons.

In addition to his half brother Joesph D. Vieira, Weatherwax is survived by his niece and nephew.
