'Dracula Untold' Sequel Gearing Up? 'The Hobbit' Star Luke Evans Talks About Continuing The Origin Story Of Vampire Despite Bad Reviews

Despite critical reviews, "The Hobbit" star's "Dracula Untold" movie was received fairly by the audience. In fact it placed second to "Gone Girl" during its opening week with over $23 million gross income locally, thus a sequel to the cold blooded vampire's origin story is reportedly in the works.

Luke Evans is confident with the film that he's already talking about the future of "Dracula Untold" and a possibility of sequel telling Screen Rant:

"If you're going to start a story anyway you gotta start at the beginning and so you could go anywhere with Dracula right now. After this movie finishes the story finishes in a very, it's like an open book where can he go. He's immortal, so it could go anywhere. There's a lot of discussions about that so it's very exciting and I'm very much involved in the whole thing."

The American horror film is starred by Luke Evans who portrayed the role of Vlad III Tepes, Dracula's name before he became an iconic mythology. He is joined by Dominic Cooper (Need for Speed), Sarah Gadon (Enemy), Samantha Barks (Les Miserables) and Charlie Cox (Daredevil).

"Dracula Untold" movie encountered a number of problems and delays before it ever came to the big screen. It was first announced in 2007, where the story would focus on the origin of the blood sucking monster. The film was directed by Gary Shore and written by Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless.

Despite delays Universal Pictures was determined to bring the untold story of Dracula to the big screen. Alissa Phillips, the film's executive producer shares the story on Screen Rant:

"We are so focused on getting this one right. If you sit around thinking what you are doing for the second film or the third when you haven't even finished or even seen the first cut of the first, then I feel you are really dooming yourself. You got to just get the first one right. You got to do it responsibly; you have to make all the right choices. [...] I believe that if we are rewarded with success, we would love the story to continue, absolutely. We would love Luke Evans to continue playing Vlad. We just need to get the first one right."
