Sir Elton John, 67, married his long-term partner, 52-year-old David Furnish in front of celebrity friends such as the Beckham clan, Liz Hurley and David Williams. The couple hosted a ceremony at their Windsor estate in Berkshire.

Sir Elton and Furnish were one of the first to form a civil partnership on December 21, 2005 but they wanted to take their relationship one step further now that same-sex marriage is legal in England.

Earlier this year, Sir Elton told Sky News, "We had our big shebang when we had our civil union but we will (have a wedding)," he added, "I think it's a great opportunity to take advantage of the new laws and to celebrate. We're very lucky in this country to be able to have that advantage and to have that position to be in."

Sir Elton and his partner, David Furnish have formally converted their civil partnership to a marriage as the legendary musician documented the day on the Instagram website. The couple's two sons, Zachary, who was born in 2010 and Elijah, attended the ceremony. One image shows Sir Elton and David Furnish holding hands while Elijah stands between them. The image is captioned, "Zachary grabs David's iPhone and takes a photo of his brother while we exchange our vows."

15-year-old Brooklyn Beckham posted a photo of him with Victoria, 40, and captioned the pic:

"Amazing day with family and special friends congratulations Uncle Elton and Uncle David".

The eldest son of David and Victoria Beckham shared the wedding menu on Twitter:

The wedding lunch menu included wild mushroom soup with truffle cream, beef short rib and caramelized onion pie and warm chocolate pudding with ice cream. Guests were served Laurent-Perrier champagne.

In another photo, the usually reclusive Kate Bush, 56, posed for a photo with Elton, Gary Barlow, 43, Ed Sheeren, 23 and Lulu, 66.

Same-sex marriage is legalized in many US states and Britain become the 15th country to legalize same-sex marriage. The new law enables gay couples to convert their civil partnership to marriages. 29 March, when it became legal has become a landmark moment for the Britain where they had a law banning the "promotion" of homosexuality a little more than a decade ago.
