'World Star' Psy's Powerful TV-Online Influence

Psy's TV viewer ratings and online information is creating a powerful influence.

Today, it was reported by AGB Nielsen Media that the viewer ratings were much higher on TV programs that were related to Psy.

Last week on October 4, cable channel NewsY had Psy's free concert in Seoul airing and as a result received a 3.759% viewer rating, which is 3.351% more than their average rating of 0.408%.

Psy's influence is now spreading the main broadcasts as well.

SBS had a special encore of Psy's concert in Seoul aired on TV on October 7 and it reached a viewer rating of 11.2%. 

Psy's influence can be seen online as well.

After the release of his music video on July 15, there were around 10,000 Psy-related articles and buzz online. In just one month after his music video release, he reached 20,000 views.

AGB Nielsen commented, "Psy's influence controls the viewer ratings. It seems like Psy is controlling the viewer's remote controls and computer mouse."

Psy has recently become a global sensation with his song, "Gangnam Style." He has ranked number 1 on iTunes in 30 countries and has ranked number 2 on the U.S. Billboard main single chart HOT 100.

He has also reached 400 million views on YouTube with his music video for "Gangnam Style."

He has appeared on many shows such as the "Ellen Show" and "SNL" and featured on news programs such as NBC and CNN.

He has also recently signed a contract with Justin Bieber's agency and plans to release his first U.S. single sometime in November.
