‘Gintama' Anime Gets New Key Visual At 2015 Jump Festa [PHOTO], Release Date Slated For April 2015

While there were plenty of exciting announcements at this weekend's 2015 Jump Festa, it seems that anime fans are by far the most excited about a new TV adaptation of the story of their favorite lazy samurai.

In fact, "Gintama" fans are so serious, they've even chased one internet troll away already in the comment section on Crunchyroll.

According to reports, Sunrise has officially confirmed a new TV anime adaptation of Hideaki Sorachi original manga "Gintama." To clarify, this looks to be a reboot more than a continuation of any of the previous anime versions of "Gintama." The new series will be aired on TV Tokyo and its affiliates, which aired the past three TV series from April 2006 to March 2010, according to Crunchyroll.

As mentioned above, fan reactions to the announcement have been overwhelmingly positive.

"Great news. I sure hope they get to animate the latest arc, because it was EPIC," commented Via_01 in an ANN forum.

"THIS IS FANTASTIC NEWS! I have never watched an anime as long as Gintama before, so I'm always up for more episodes for me to spend my life watching!" commented Cyclone1993.

"It just never dies, does it? Though I'm extremely happy about hearing this news!" stated Felicity Dash.

The announcement of the new "Gintama" TV series also came with a new key visual which is featured above. Anime News Network reports that the "action comedy manga inspired a television anime that premiered in 2006 and continued (with several extended hiatuses) until 2013."

For those who may be unfamiliar, Sentai Filmworks provides the following synopsis (via My Anime List):

"Life isn't easy in feudal Japan... especially since the aliens landed and conquered everything! Oh sure, the new health care is great, but the public ban on the use of swords has left a lot of defeated samurai with a difficult decision to make concerning their future career paths!

This is especially true if, as in the case of Gintoki Sakata, they're not particularly inclined towards holding a day job, which is why Gintoki's opted for the freelance route, taking any job that's offered to him as long as the financial remuneration sounds right.

Unfortunately, in a brave new world filled with stray bug-eyed monsters, upwardly mobile Yakuza and overly ambitious E.T. entrepreneurs, those jobs usually don't pay as well as they should for the pain, suffering and indignities endured!"

The all new "Gintama" anime release date is set for April 2015.
