Review: Vocalist NS Yoon-G Teams Up With Rapper DinDin To Heat Things Up On 'Snowy Day' [AUDIO]

This time of year, without fail, a seemingly endless parade of artists from around the world will attempt to capitalize on the wintery months with a holiday hit, or a song about curling up next to a fire with your loved ones

Let's just say, they can't all be Bing Crosby singing "White Christmas."

Though only time will tell if it becomes a Korean seasonal classic, singer NS Yoon-G's new wintertime single, "Snowy Day," released on Monday and featuring rapper DinDin, has a crisp, hard-hitting beat and a certain sincere sweetness that makes you want to stop and enjoy the moment.

That's not to say "Snowy Day" doesn't have an edge.

Well, edge might not be the best word for it, but there is still an underlying deep soul on the song, particularly accented in the sections where DinDin raps, not dissimilar to a 1980s Chaka Kahn ballad.

Already a veteran performer at the age of 26, Yoon-G, who made her professional debut on JMT Entertainment back in 2009, clearly knows that the key to making good dance music is working with great producers.

On "Snowy Day," she appears to, once again, have surrounded herself with admirable talent. Producer Star Track keeps the beat sharp and funky and the rest of the mix sparse. The electric piano, a highpoint of the playing on the song, bubbles up in the mix, but it mostly kept at bay, like the other elements.

In this mix, the drumbeat is clearly king.

And that's a good thing. On "Snowy Day," Star Track, Yoon-G and DinDin show the world that whether it's wintertime or anytime, it isn't glitz and gloss or bombastic faces at breakneck paces that win people's hearts and minds.

It's a good old solid groove.
