Psy, Why Ranking Number 1 on U.S. Billboard 'Rap Song' Chart is More Important

While Psy has been at number 2 on the 'Hot 100' chart for the U.S. Billboard, he has made an even bigger accomplishment by making it to number 1 on the 'Rap Songs' category.

U.S. Billboards reported today that he had made it to number 1 on the 'Rap Songs' chart.

Although Psy should be sad that he did not make it to number 1 on the "HOT 100' chart again this week, he was not. He had been ranked number 1 on the 'Rap Songs' chart, which makes him the first Asian artist to do so.

African American music editor Kang Il Kwon commented, "Being number 1 on the 'rap songs' is harder than becoming number 1 on the 'hot 100'. It is believed that it is an unattainable area for a Korean artist to achieve. It is a huge issue that Psy has made it to the top of this chart."

There have been a few foreign country artists to make it to number 1 on the main chart such as Japan artist Sakamoto Kyu and Spain duo Los Del Rio.

However, being number 1 on the 'rap songs' chart is something even more rare. 'Rap songs' is a category that is very defined and there have not been artists that weren't hip-hop musicians on the chart.

Many famous hip-hop musicians have been seen on this chart, but there has never been a foreign language song such as "Gangnam Style," ranks as number 1.

Psy has recently become a global sensation with his song, "Gangnam Style." He has ranked number 1 on iTunes in 30 countries and has ranked number 2 on the U.S. Billboard main single chart HOT 100.

He has also reached 400 million views on YouTube with his music video for "Gangnam Style."

He has appeared on many shows such as the "Ellen Show" and "SNL" and featured on news programs such as NBC and CNN.

He has also recently signed a contract with Justin Bieber's agency and plans to release his first U.S. single sometime in November.
