Yoon Mirae Reportedly Plans To Sue Sony For Using Her Song During 'The Interview' Without Expressed Permission

The Interview is facing problems with Korea. South Korea, that is.

Singer Yoon Mirae is reportedly suing Sony Pictures for illegally using her song "Pay Day" in the Seth Rogan-James Franco film The Interview. Yoon Mirae's agency, Feel Ghood Music, released a statement saying that there had been initial discussions for the song to appear in The Interview, but Sony never received official permission from Feel Ghood or Yoon Mirae.

"We came to know that 'Pay Day,' a track from Yoon's third studio album (2007), was used for the film The Interview, only after it was released," said a Feel Ghood Music representative according to the K-pop Herald.

Yoon Mirae and her husband Tiger JK are the co-CEOs of Feel Ghood Music.

The song plays during a scene where North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un is seen partying. "Pay Day" was released in 2007, on Yoon Mi Rae's T3 - Yoon Mi Rae album.

The movie made headlines for a North Korean alleged cyberattack Sony Pictures prior to the release of the film. Sony cancelled the release following threats of violence from North Korea, but calls across the United States for the release of the film based on freedom of speech resulted in some movie theaters deciding to release the film.

Sony also released The Interview on the Internet the same day, the first time that a film from a major studio has been released online and in theaters on the same day.

The Interview also features music from popular Chinese singer Jay Chou, as well as Eminem, Katy Perry, The White Strpies, Yuna Song,  and several other popular singers according to the Internet Movie Database.
