Relive ‘Shirobako' Season 1 Through New Promo Released At Japanese Comiket Festival [VIDEO]

An anime series about making anime is meta in the same way that plenty of other meta series can be. The only foreseeable problem is if it resembles the reality of the studio too much.

Because it's a conflict waiting to happen if you happen to draw the animator next to you in an unflattering way.

This doesn't seem to be a problem however for "Shirobako." The anime series that is currently set to air its 13th episode on January 8, recently debuted a promotional trailer that allows fans to relive some of the scenes and images from the first half of season one. The trailer, which also advertises some upcoming merchandise for fans to purchase, premiered at the Japanese Comiket festival last weekend.

Fans on My Anime List are overall impressed by the freshness of content in "Shirobako" in comparison to other anime.

"‘Shirobako' is that type of anime that doesn't stand too much in a season but it is a hidden pearl. I mean, it's just so fresh and so interesting," commented Nivalis.

"The selling point of this anime is the realistic portrayal of the lives of those in the anime industry. Even if you do not understand half of what the characters are saying or what they are doing, the anime is just exciting to watch," explained Pakoko.

"Everyone moves busily around scrambling to meet a deadline, struggling with miscommunications, or panicking because of a network failure. Vicariously, you feel the stress and the intensity that people in the anime industry have to deal with on a daily basis, and that sort of immersion is what makes this show interesting to watch," added Pakoko.

Those interested in "Shirobako" who have never seen it before can preview the entire first season in the new trailer which is available at the end of this article.

According to Anime News Network, the trailer also advertises the second Blu-ray and DVD box sets, set for release on January 28, the prequel novel, set for release on January 27, and the first volume of the manga spinoff, which also will be released on January 27.

Based on the fan reviews, it looks like "Shirobako" is a meta anime worth watching and reliving in short form.
