Psy Brings 'Gangnam Style' To Australia

World star Psy's popularity has grown immensely; he arrived in Australia still trying to understand his role as the face of K-Pop.

Psy told AAP on Tuesday, "It's a huge surprise personally and all over Korea because it never happened before to my country and everyone's looking to me," "Gangnam Style" has topped music charts in 33 countries, including Australia and Britain.

"Gangnam Style" makes fun of the people in Gangnam district in Korea, who have muscles are good looking and who have money. Psy had no idea that when he uploaded "Gangnam Style" to YouTube that it would have become as popular as it did.

In weeks it circulated on Twitter and attracted celebrities such as Katy Perry, Britney Spears and UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon, who instantly fell in love with the song. Gangnam Style's dance moves have become a viral hit, inspiring hundreds of tributes and parodies but Psy says his wacky style is nothing new.

"To the world this is a new dance move but in Korea it's just another of Psy's dance moves," he says.

Demand for Psy is high with tickets to a show in Sydney on Oct 18 on sale for $150. He will also be performing on "Sunrise" and "The X Factor."
