SHINee's Jonghyun Releases First Teaser For Solo Debut

Following a mysterious teaser image, SM Entertainment released a teaser video for SHINee member Jonghyun's debut as a solo artist.

On January 1, the first teaser video for Jonghyun's upcoming song "Base" was uploaded to the official SMTOWN YouTube channel. Within 48 hours, the video had been viewed over 300,000 times by fans who are anticipating the second solo debut made by a member of popular SM Entertainment group, SHINee.

An image of a triangle morphing into squares was posted on SM Entertainment's website on January 1, teasing SM Entertainment's first release of 2015. The company has now confirmed that SHINee's vocalist Jonghyun will be the first to release a mini-album in 2015.

"Base" will be Jonghyun's first mini-album as a solo artist. Jonghyun has composed and written several SHINee songs, although SM Entertainment has not revealed whether Jonghyun's mini-album is entirely self-composed.

The teaser video for "Base" depicts Jonghyun in a suit while in chains. His body is held up by his arms, and the teaser eventually morphs Jonghyun's image into a letter, "Y," which will likely be the title song on "Base."

Jonghyun can be heard whispering, "The reason danger is more attractive. The reason it's more exciting," at the end of the teaser.

SM Entertainment also released several teaser images in anticipation of Jonghyun's solo debut.

In December, SM Entertainment revealed that Jonghyun would be one SM Entertainment's artists to hold a solo debut in 2015. f(x)'s rapper Amber is also set to pursue solo activities in 2015.

Jonghyun's solo debut follows the 2014 solo debut of SHINee's youngest member, Taemin. Taemin released the mini-album, "Ace," in August 2014.

"Base" will be released on January 12. Jonghyun will appear on KBS's Music Bank on January 9 to kick off his solo promotions.
