A lazy student with greatness thrust upon them is a pretty typical premise for a superhero movie or series about a teenager. Because when you're a teenager, managing hormones can leave you unwilling to do much else.

Well, besides chasing after romance of course.

The latest venture in lazy teenagers comes in the form of upcoming anime series "Cute High Earth Defense Club LOVE." Those who are unfamiliar shouldn't be fooled by the title: it's a magical boys anime as opposed to the typical magical girls in short skirts. There will perhaps be plenty of talk about the upcoming series since now both Crunchyroll and Funimation will be streaming the series this January.

So far, fans have had positive reactions to the concept of "Cute High Earth Defense Club LOVE!"

"I am so looking forward to this! It looks like it could be really entertaining. Still wish the wombat were actually cute, though. And I would have never imagined Yasumoto Hiroki would voice a tiny green hedgehog (which is cute)," said Jacquipuff in an ANN forum.

"Bishounen, animals, comedy, no annoying female. I'm excited for this," exclaimed Izu.

"This didn't grab me until I saw who was involved - with Takamatsu (Gintama, Nichibros) directing, and Yokote (Hare + Guu, Joshiraku) on composition, this has the potential to be super funny," commented Jtron.

According to Anime News Network, the Crunchyroll streaming announcement comes with the added benefit that the popular anime and manga site will stream the first episode of "Cute High Earth Defense Club LOVE" ahead of Funimation's stream. Crunchyroll will post the first episode on January 6. Funimation subscribers will have to wait until January 13 for their episodes to be available.

According to Funimation, "Cute High Earth Defense Club LOVE" is about a group of somewhat lazy teenage boys who attend Binan High School. Their lives are changed however when a pink wombat appears and begs the boys to help him save the Earth.

The magical boys series is directed by Shinji Takamatsu with character design by Masakazu Ishikawa. The main voice cast includes Kazutomi Yamamoto as Yumoto Hakone, Yuichiro Umehara as En Yufuin, Kōtarō Nishiyama as Atsushi Kinugawa, Yusuke Shirai as Io Naruko, Toshiki Masuda as Ryū Zaou, and Mugihito as the Wombat
