Jodi Arias Trial Update Today: Testimony Postponed in Jodi Arias Sentencing Retrial

Jodi Arias Trial Update Today: The Jodi Arias retrial was postponed again. Testimony was expected to resume Monday in Jodi Arias' sentencing retrial, but was postponed to allow attorneys to interview an unidentified witness.

Maricopa County Superior Court Judge Sherry Stephens sent jurors home Monday morning. The Jodi Arias jurors had just returned to court after a two-week holiday break. Arias entered the courtroom about 10 a.m. Monday

Prosecutors claimed that Arias attacked Travis Alexander in a jealous rage after he wanted to end their affair and planned a trip to Mexico with another woman. Arias admitted that she killed Alexander but claimed it was self-defense.

Judge Stephens said Jodi Arias' legal team filed a petition with the state Supreme Court regarding the transcript of Arias' testimony. Stephens scheduled a hearing for 8:30 a.m. on Thursday to discuss the release of the transcripts. Judge Stephens is scheduled to meet on Monday at 4 p.m. with lawyers on both sides to decide if the trial will continue Tuesday.

Arias defense team filed a motion asking prosecutors to hand over reports that related to the investigation of a computer that belonged to Travis Alexander. Arias' lawyers also asked the Arizona Supreme Court to put the trial on hold while they are awaiting an of a lower court's ruling over Stephens' decision to barred the public from watching the testimony of Arias' first defense witness in October. The surprise witness was later revealed to be Jodi Arias.

Judge Stephens ruled to bar the public because Arias' first witness was skittish. It was reported that the witness wouldn't testify unless the hearing was closed. According to court papers, Jennifer Willmott, Arias' lawyer, said the appeals court ruling allows the media's First Amendment rights to trump Arias' right to a fair trial.

Lawyers for Jodi Arias want to have the case dismissed through allegations that authorities destroyed  files on Alexander's computer that would have been beneficial in defending Arias. The files included files from pornographic websites.

Jodi Arias reportedly courted public time since she was arrested in 2008. The convicted killer of Travis Alexander did interviews with "48 Hours" and "Inside Edition" after she was arrested. She also did a series of media interviews after the jury convicted her of murder.

The Arizona Court of Appeals threw out Stephens' ruling and ordered transcripts of Arias' secret testimony to be released. The testimony has not been made public.
