In the days when Saturday Morning cartoons were the only thing that could get kids out of bed on the weekends, two series about pet monsters who fight each other were popular.

But some "Pokemon" fans will never admit that "Digimon" is a thing.

For "Digimon" fans that still exist however, it has been 15 years since the first time the pet monsters from the Digital World first premiered. In celebration of the 15 year milestone, the all new HD remaster of the original "Digimon Adventure" TV anime is set to air the first episode in Japan on the Tokyo MX channel.

Since this news kicks off the beginning of celebrating "Digimon," will there finally be an announcement about the release date for the new series "Digimon Adventure Tri?"

So far, fans are excited at the prospect of reliving "Digimon Adventure" in HD.

"Well, at least that's something good to start with!" exclaimed NeoStrayCat in an ANN forum.

"Even though I only watched the English fox kids dub, if the 15th anniversary BR release had English subtitles, I'd totally would maybe consider buying it," commented Tempest_Wing.

Anime News Network reports that the news about the first HD remaster episode of "Digimon Adventure" comes from the official "Digimon Adventure" 15th Anniversary Twitter account. They also report that the Blu-ray release of the pet monster anime series is currently set for March 3, 2015.

But what does this mean for the previously announced sequel series "Digimon Adventure Tri?"

While it's always hard to speculate when and how companies will roll out information, it is likely that producers of the series will want to keep excitement from dying down by waiting too long to release new information. That is to say, if the release date isn't confirmed there will likely be something related to the new series to go alongside the HD remastered episodes.
